Ryan Dempster again shutdown the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers as the Chicago Cubs posted an 8-1 victory on Friday.

Dempster (2-0) beat the Brewers for the fourth straight time, allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings.

The Brewers, who had scored 36 runs over their last three contests, were limited to eight hits in this one.

Kosuke Fukodome and Tyler Colvin homered and each drove in a pair runs to help the Cubs build a 6-0 advantage after five innings.

Jeff Suppan (0-1) was dealt the loss, giving up six runs -- five earned -- on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.

Craig Counsell doubled in the Brewers only run in the seventh inning.
