Cameron Maybin hit a home run and Cody Ross continued his hot hitting with a two-run double in the ninth as the Florida Marlins held on to beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Tuesday at Sun Life Stadium.

Anibal Sanchez (4-2) worked around some control problems to turn in another solid start, allowing two runs on five hits and walking four before leaving with one out in the seventh. Sanchez has won three consecutive starts for the first time since his 2006 rookie year.

Brian McCann gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead with a two-run double in the third, but Maybin tied it with his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the inning.

Chris Coghlan's RBI groundout in the fifth gave Florida a 3-2 lead and the Marlins added some insurance in the eighth with Ross's two-run double and Ronny Paulino's RBI single.

That insurance turned out to be needed because Jason Heyward cut into the lead with a two-run single in the ninth, but the Braves left the tying run at the plate.

Kenshin Kawakami (0-7) again turned in a quality start but was hurt by poor run support. He allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Martin Prado had three hits for the Braves, who have lost two in a row since having their five-game winning streak snapped Sunday in Pittsburgh.
