Eric Hinskie drove in three runs and rookie sensation Jason Heyward added a pair of hits as the Atlanta Braves used a seven-run second inning to cruise to a 9-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Friday.

Heyward and Melky Cabrera each had two hits in the second while David Ross, Nate McLouth and Yunel Escobar joined Cabrera and Hinskie with RBI hits off Rockies starter Jason Hammel.

Hinskie provided the big blow in the frame when he followed back-to-back walks to Martin Prado and Chipper Jones with a two-run single.

Hammel (0-1) was lifted after 1 2/3 innings and charged with seven runs on eight hits and three walks.

Derek Lowe (3-0) was not in vintage form but held on for the win, surrendering four runs - three earned - and seven hits while walking two and striking out five. The veteran sinkerballer has received 32 runs of support in his three starts.

Chipper Jones added a homer for the Braves and Seth Smith hit a three-run blast for Colorado, which has dropped two in a row after winning four of five.
