Tony Abreu and Adam LaRoche had run-scoring sacrifice flies for Arizona (63-92), which defeated Los Angeles for just the third time in 14 outings this season.

Hudson (8-2) improved to 7-1 in 11 starts since the Diamondbacks acquired him from the Chicago White Sox in a deal for Edwin Jackson at the trade deadline. The 23-year-old right-hander allowed two runs and struck out five in the win.

Each of Hudson's 11 outings for Arizona have been quality starts, and he has allowed two runs or fewer in 10 of those starts.

Juan Gutierrez got the final out in the ninth inning for his 13th save of the season.

Trent Oeltjen slapped a double in the fourth inning and scored on Andre Ethier's groundout for Los Angeles (75-80), which fell for just the second time in eight games at Chase Field this season.

Rookie right-hander John Ely (4-9) suffered his eighth loss in nine decisions by permitting four runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. The 24-year-old right-hander walked six and struck out seven in this one.
