Chris Young’s two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 7-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

After the first two batters of the inning were retired, the Diamondbacks staged a two-out rally. Miguel Montero singled to left center and Young followed with his second homer of the contest by belting a pitch from Kyle McClellan (0-1) to end things.

The comeback made a winner of Esmerling Vasquez (1-0) and came after the Cardinals had rallied to tie thing with three runs in the top of the ninth.

Albert Pujols knocked in one of the runs with a single, Randy Winn brought home another with a single of his own and Pujols later scored from third on a wild pitch from Vasquez to make it 5-5.

Adam LaRoche drove in three runs and Montero had an RBI double in the seventh to give the Diamondbacks a three-run cushion as they took the three-game series.

Pujols finished with three RBIs as St. Louis had 14 hits in defeat.

Arizona starter Edwin Jackson allowed two runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings of the no-decision.
