Jason Heyward homered, Troy Glaus drove in two runs and Tim Hudson gave Atlanta another strong pitching performance in leading the Braves to a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.

Hudson (7-2) allowed one run over seven innings. He gave up four hits and walked four to help Atlanta win for the 11th time in its last 12 home games.

Jonny Venters and Billy Wagner each followed by working scoreless innings out of the bullpen, with Wagner earning his 12th save in 14 opportunities.

Atlanta took the lead on Glaus's two-run double in the sixth, which dropped just out of the reach of a diving Ben Zobrist. Glaus, who has 53 RBIs, is tied for the National League lead with David Wright of the New York Mets.

Carlos Pena put the Rays ahead 1-0 with an RBI single in the fourth, but Heyward answered with his 11th homer of the season in the bottom of the inning.

Tampa Bay starter James Shields (5-6) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings. Shields has lost his last five starts.

The Rays entered with the best road record in the majors, but dropped two of three in the series.
