Armando Galarraga (3-1) picked up his first victory since his brush with a perfect game. The right-hander gave up four runs on five hits over six innings for the win following three straight no-decisions.

Jose Valverde pitched a perfect ninth for his 17th save in 18 opportunities.

The Tigers built a 6-1 lead against Hisanori Takahashi (6-3), who gave up the six runs on eight hits in four-plus innings and allowed both homers.

Miguel Cabrera's sacrifice fly opened the scoring in the first and Ordonez added to the lead with a two-run shot in the third. Raburn, who entered the game hitting .184, went 3-for-3 with a solo homer in the fifth. Brennan Boesch also had three hits for Detroit.

The Mets scored three in the sixth and one in the seventh to cut it to 6-5, but they left the bases loaded in the seventh and stranded two in the eighth.

Jesus Feliciano went 3-for-5 and scored two runs and David Wright was 2-for-5 with an RBI double for New York.
