Luke Hochevar gave up one unearned run in six innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 7-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

Hochevar (3-1), who went 2-0 against Chicago last season, allowed only three hits, struck out three and walked four.

Mike Aviles, starting for the first time since this year, paced the Royals' 16-hit attack by going 3-for-4. David DeJesus, Scott Podsednik, Billy Butler, Jose Guillen and Alberto Callaspo had two hits apiece.

The Royals roughed up White Sox starter Gavin Floyd (1-3) for six runs and 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings. Floyd dropped to 1-6 in his career against Kansas City.

The Royals took a 2-1 lead into the seventh before blowing the game open with four runs in a span of four batters. Chris Getz led off with a single, stole second and scored on Podsednik's triple. Butler singled in Podsednik before Guillen's two-run homer gave Kansas City a 6-1 lead.

A.J. Pierzynski hit a solo homer in the seventh for Chicago.

The only run charged to Hochevar came in the third on an error by catcher Jason Kendall, who threw wildly as Juan Pierre was stealing third. The bad throw allowed Pierre to come home.
