Lyle Overbay homered twice and drove in seven runs and the Toronto Blue Jays hammered the Boston Red Sox 16-2 at Fenway Park Friday night.

The Blue Jays belted four home runs in the game and scored five runs in the first inning off loser Jon Lester (13-8). Lester entered the game riding a 14-inning scoreless string but lasted just two innings allowing eight hits and three walks and nine earned runs.

Brett Cecil (10-6) picked up the win going 6 2/3 innings while allowing nine hits and two runs.

Jose Bautista hit his MLB-leading 38th homer of the season and John McDonald also homered. The Blue Jays pounded out 20 hits in the game.

Boston played without second baseman Dustin Pedroia, who is headed back to the DL with a sore foot just two days after being activated.

Overbay hit three-run homers in the first and third innings. McDonald's three-run shot in the sixth inning made it 14-0. The 16 runs are the most Toronto has ever scored against Boston.
