Felix Pie drove in three runs and Brian Matusz tossed six strong innings to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 9-7 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

Adam Jones added three hits and scored three runs and Luke Scott hit a two-run homer for the Orioles.

Pie got the offensive onslaught started with an RBI triple in the second off Angels starter Ervin Santana (10-8) and scored on rookie Josh Bell’s single. Brian Roberts plated a run with a groundout in the three-run frame. Baltimore added one more run on Pie’s single in the third before exploding for five runs in the fourth.

Ty Wigginton sparked the rally with a two-run single in front of Scott’s 20th homer of the season. Pie capped the scoring with another RBI single, plating Jones.

Matusz (4-11) had little trouble with Los Angeles, striking out three and scattering seven hits en route to his first win in five starts and second in his last 19 outings.

With Matusz out of the game following a rain delay, the Angels battled back with five runs in the seventh and added another in the ninth before Alfredo Simon shut the door for his 16th save.
