The New York Mets racked up 18 hits, including four home runs, and blasted the Baltimore Orioles, 11-4, on Sunday to wrap-up a three-game sweep at Camden Yards.
It marked New York’s first three-game sweep on the road since Sept. 1-3, 2008 at Milwaukee. The streaking Mets have won eight of nine and 15 of 20 overall.
David Wright belted a pair of two-run homers, hitting his 11th of the season in the first against Kevin Millwood and adding another in the sixth against Mark Hendrickson. Chris Carter added a three-run shot in the five-run first -- his second career homer and his second of the series -- and Jason Bay went 4-for-4 with a solo homer in the fifth.
Three of the homers came against Millwood (0-8), who has allowed nine long balls in his last four starts. The right-hander gave up eight runs on 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The Orioles scored two in the first and one in the second to get within 5-3, but Mets starter Mike Pelfrey settled in after that.
Pelfrey (9-1) allowed three runs on nine hits over six innings to win his fifth consecutive decision.
