Alec Burleson went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs as the host St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 on Saturday to snap their five-game losing streak.
Masyn Winn homered and scored twice for the Cardinals. Nolan Arenado also hit a home run and Willson Contreras went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
St. Louis starting pitcher Andre Pallante (5-6) held the Dodgers to two runs on four hits in seven innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Reliever JoJo Romero handled the eighth inning for St. Louis and Ryan Helsley closed out the Dodgers in the ninth for his 38th save.
Shohei Ohtani hit his 38th homer, stole two bases and scored twice for the Dodgers, who lost for the third time in four games.
Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller (1-3) allowed four runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked one, struck out one and threw four wild pitches.
Los Angeles first baseman Freddie Freeman exited the game in the eighth inning with an apparent finger injury.
The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Ohtani walked, stole second, advanced to third on a flyout, and scored on Freeman's single.
The Cardinals tied the score in their half of the inning. Burleson hit a single, stole second base, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Contreras' single.
St. Louis increased its lead to 3-1 in the third inning. Winn singled and Burleson followed with his 21st home run of the season.
Ohtani's homer in the fifth inning cut the Dodgers' deficit to 3-2, but the Cardinals pushed their lead back to 4-2 in the bottom of the inning.
Winn hit a homer out of the reach of leaping Dodgers center fielder Kevin Kiermaier. Contreras hit a one-out single, took second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a flyout. Ryan Brasier relieved Miller and retired Arenado on a groundout.
Arenado made it 5-2 with his eighth-inning homer.
