Trevor Story hit a walk-off homer to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning, and the Colorado Rockies again put a dent in Milwaukee's division title hopes with a 3-2 win over the Brewers in Denver on Saturday night.

Milwaukee had a chance to tie the St. Louis Cardinals atop the National League Central after St. Louis lost to the Chicago Cubs. But the Rockies got a tying solo homer from Sam Hilliard off closer Josh Hader with two outs in the ninth and Story's 35th of the season off Matt Albers (8-6).

The postseason-bound Brewers suffered another injury when center fielder Lorenzo Cain sprained his left ankle getting thrown out at home in the ninth inning. Cain finished with two hits and had a home run-saving catch in the seventh when Milwaukee was leading 2-0.

Ian Desmond tripled and also went deep for Colorado, and Jairo Diaz (6-4) tossed one inning in relief to get the win.

Eric Thames homered, and Ben Gamel and Orlando Arcia also had two hits for the Brewers. Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell was ejected in the ninth inning.

Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez was sharp in his six innings, allowing one run on three hits, walking two and striking out six. His one mistake was a cutter that Thames parked in the second deck in right field for Milwaukee's first hit of the game.

Arcia's RBI double in the seventh made it 2-0, but Desmond homered in the eighth off Drew Pomeranz to cut the lead to 2-1.

Milwaukee starter Gio Gonzalez left after Charlie Blackmon's two-out single in the fifth.

The Brewers were already without outfielder Ryan Braun due to a mild left calf strain. Braun was injured Friday night and said an MRI on Saturday confirmed the diagnosis, adding that the injury shouldn't keep him from playing in the postseason starting either Tuesday in the NL wild-card game or Thursday in Game 1 of the NLDS, should they win the division.
